Trying to hold on to that elusive, warm spirit of Christmas, one instinctively searches for its anchors—those special tracks that can help. Sometimes I feel that we don’t choose the music, but rather it finds us when we need comfort the most. Allow me to recommend a cozy favourite of mine (and, hopefully, soon yours) this winter: Christmas Chords by the German producer 420 Sunlight.

The title of the composition is already a direct hint, and believe me, you won’t be disappointed. This two-minute journey begins with delicacy, drawing attention with gentle clicks of percussive instruments and the shimmer of Christmas bells. These sounds are like the first snowflakes quietly falling outside the window. Light, translucent chords from an electric piano softly prepare the ground for the emergence of quiet, almost tender beats, complemented by a soft, enveloping bassline.

And here is the main course: warm, as if from a hearth, guitar chords. They seem to smell of fresh Christmas tree and mandarins, creating an immediate visual image. The synthesizer gradually picks up higher, sparkling frequencies, enveloping all these instruments, gathering them together at the festive table. The feeling is that you are not just listening, but sitting right in the centre of this harmony.

This wonderful blend allows one to feel the Christmas spirit at any time of year. This work is so wonderfully produced! And you know what’s most interesting? It seems that it is not the anticipation of the holiday that lends this composition such an atmosphere, but the composition itself creates the holiday. Even if it’s far away, even if it so happens that you are not in a celebratory mood right now, this track can give you a crumb of light, gentle comfort, right here and now.

P.S. If you feel you need a musical “warm blanket” for contemplation, be sure to listen to “Warm” by Joey Pecoraro—the perfect Lo-Fi soundtrack for cozy comfort and focus.
