Hello. It’s Saturday night, and it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t suggest a track for your relaxation at such a perfect time. This is a brand-new release born from the collaboration of three talented artists: NKN, December50 (USA), and PictureTalk (France). Despite their creative journeys remaining somewhat mysterious, listening to “Empathy For Sitting” in this atmosphere of anonymity only adds to the experience.

Sound Architecture

The track opens with a muted piano—it sounds as if it’s afraid to wake you, setting a sleepy, cozy mood. The atmosphere deepens when the bells join in, creating a fairy-tale effect similar to a music box opened just before bed. The percussion feels like the ticking of a clock—steady, calm, and never distracting.

Underneath it all, a light bass drifts like fog, accompanied by a subtle yet dramatic synth pad. Every element fits perfectly into this drowsy, late-night soundscape.

Why Listen?

This sound might seem typical for lofi, and you might wonder why I chose this specific track out of hundreds. For me, it’s not about the instruments themselves, but the mood they convey.

I felt an indescribable blend of sadness and peace here. The incredibly melancholic piano chords, paired with the soothing rhythm, trigger an introspective mindset. You find yourself analyzing your life and everything that has happened to you. Many lofi tracks function strictly as background noise, but “Empathy For Sitting” is one of the few that actually touches you. Its true value lies in this intimate connection with the listener.

P.S. If you enjoy music that helps you look inward, be sure to check out our recent review of another atmospheric piece: Northern Drift x Jonny Abbey — When the Trees Wake: Healing Organic Melodies.
