Today’s conversation is a special one for me. For the first time on this blog, we are exploring a work born at the intersection of two worlds: the living human soul and artificial intelligence. “Home: Universes“, the album by Turkish composer and author Tamer Sağcan, is a bold experiment where the artist’s classical guitar serves as the heart, and AI acts as the orchestra, expanding the boundaries of sound.
“Even as a writer, no one could quite fit my work into a single genre. Now, reading the feedback from curators listening to my music, I see the same thing happening. I don’t work by focusing on one genre. The only thing I focus on is what the music makes me feel, and what it might make the listener feel — just as when I write. (Some readers used to call my writing ‘Sağcanesque.’)” — Tamer Sağcan
Tamer builds an entire universe called Eleyrrha, which serves as the foundation for his upcoming 19-book literary saga. Yet, behind the epic scale of a 17-layered cosmology lies a very personal, touching backstory. At a moment when Tamer was ready to give up on his creative path, his daughter said the words that became the bedrock of this album:
“You can’t stop writing, dad. You create a world for lonely people — you can’t leave them even more alone.”
So, while the author suggests this album is a journey from the first star to eternity, listening to it, I felt something different. This isn’t a path “away from us,” but a path “back to us.” It is a return from the cold void of space to the warmth of the earth, to the feeling of home. Let’s walk this path together.
1. Enterstellar
The journey opens with a composition that immediately immerses the listener in a state of light melancholy. It feels as though a sad story awaits us, but as we approach the “epicenter,” the mood shifts drastically. Tamer’s fingerpicking becomes more frequent, and deep cinematic bass lines add a rush of adrenaline. To me, this track is about struggle. If the first half is about acceptance, the second is a clear signal: “You must fight.” Tamer’s delicate chords seem to hold your hand, refusing to let you despair. A brilliant, powerful start.
2. Eridanus
This track begins quietly and lonely, like wandering through the emptiness between worlds. However, light lo-fi rhythms eventually emerge, resembling a pulse — the beating of a heart. It’s like news of life being born in the middle of a vacuum. The energy builds as the guitar and pads merge into a true “supernova” explosion, which eventually subsides back into silence at the end. It’s a reminder that all great things begin with stillness and, ultimately, return to it.
3. Novus Astra
Music that evokes associations with a knight’s tale transported to a distant galaxy. I love how Tamer blends his signature guitar with the sounds of a violin — it adds a sense of medieval nobility to the composition. Imagine a lonely knight whose armor is the hull of a spacecraft. He soars through nebulae, yet there is no cold in this solitude. The track grants a sense of “home” and recalls the fairy tales we were read in childhood. Now, that lone knight is you, but thanks to this melody, you certainly won’t be alone.
4. Gravity
A name that speaks for itself. The guitar patterns here are incredibly rhythmic, literally pulling the listener’s attention. The structure of the track is intriguing: energetic segments are replaced by “islands” of calm. It feels like the stream of consciousness of someone longing for home but finding solace in the moment. When the strings enter, there’s a sensation that our “cosmic traveler” has finally felt the gravity of their home planet. This track is about what pulls us in — and it isn’t always something material.
5. Materia Oscura
“Dark Matter.” That which is invisible yet holds the entire universe together. The composition begins with an absolutely clean, deliberate guitar. At the 30-second mark, a new layer of sound is added, and you begin to literally dissolve into it. The appearance of a cello adds anxious notes, hinting at mysteries we aren’t yet able to grasp. But the author seems to reassure us: not everything in the world requires a logical explanation. Sometimes, it is enough just to be present and enjoy the moment.
6. Event Horizon
An incredibly beautiful and dynamic piece. The rhythm of the guitar here is so captivating that it resembles the relentless pull of a black hole’s gravity. And then, at the 2:17 mark, a true explosion of percussion and strings occurs — you cross the “event horizon.” This is a moment of catharsis. The future ceases to be uncertain, you become part of something greater. Now, only the singularity lies ahead, but we will talk about that shortly.
7. Itinerarium
The title of this track translates to “journey,” and that is exactly what happens: Tamer’s guitar becomes your guide through your inner universe. A light lo-fi beat gently captures you neuron by neuron, making you dissolve into the melody. If you are currently on a trip — whether physical or metaphorical — this track is a must-have for your inspiration. In my opinion, this is where Tamer’s talent as a guitarist shines the brightest.
8. Laniakea
Laniakea is the immense supercluster of galaxies, the home of our own Milky Way. The music here reminds us that each of us is but a speck in the vastness. There are eight billion of us, yet on a cosmic scale, we are almost invisible. This offers an interesting reimagining of loneliness: yes, you might be lonely here and now, but look wider — we all share this cosmic solitude. The gentle piano at 1:50 sounds like a quiet realization of this grand scale.
9. Entropy
The third track on the album to feature lo-fi rhythms. What I particularly loved is that the music here feels like the complete opposite of its title. It’s not about chaos. I think, it’s a divine order. While the deep cello and bass speak of something monumental, the guitar stays at a human, earthly level. This balance between the supernatural and the relatable creates a perfect sense of sonic peace.
10. Ex Nihilo
Here we hear, perhaps, the most distinct guitar recording on the entire album. The sound of the strings is so deep and close, it feels as if the artist is playing right next to you. The rhythm, close to a passionate salsa, suddenly plucks us out of cold space and returns us to earthly love. The cello only heightens this drama. I believe this track could easily serve as the main theme for a modern Turkish film about grand emotions.
11. Vis Viva
“Living Force” — and this track sounds incredibly life-giving. Through the guitar chords, the true soul of the instrument emerges, backed by a confident beat. At the 1:12 mark, the music transforms into a whirlwind of energy — hot and fiery. Tamer is like a matador here, bravely and elegantly charging the crowd with energy. It’s the perfect track for those moments when it feels like your internal batteries are completely drained.
12. Singularity
Here we are, reaching the “Singularity” mentioned earlier. As the penultimate stage of the journey, this track gently prepares us for the finale. Surprisingly, instead of being frightening due to the unknown, it sounds very inspiring. It is the point where everything merges into one, making you calmly, and perhaps even with inspiration, accept the future that awaits you.
13. Aeterna
An incredible conclusion to the album. Starting the journey on a somewhat dark and melancholy note, Tamer Sağcan ultimately leads us to a bright thought: everything will be okay. Even if you are alone in your room, your country, or on the entire planet Earth — this state is not permanent. Touching chords softly end this voyage, which began in distant cosmic voids and brought us back home to our loved ones. From the void, into a warm, cozy home.
Conclusion
Evaluating this album through the lens of emotion, I can say that it fulfills its role brilliantly. This is music capable of lifting a person out of a state of depression or deep loneliness. I regret that I don’t know much yet about the Eleyrrha universe that these tracks are part of, but I hope this review helps Tamer highlight his vision.
As for the technical side: this is my first experience with an album created through the collaboration of Tamer’s live guitar and AI orchestration. While there might be some notes regarding the algorithm’s sound choices, there are certainly none regarding Tamer’s performance. His guitar feels soft and alive — like the “living water” from which life begins.
One could argue endlessly about the ethics of using AI in art. But if the author does it with good intentions, to reveal the broader world of his books and to help people feel less alone — then why not? I can say with confidence: Tamer, you have certainly fulfilled your daughter’s request. You have created a world where everyone belongs.
