"Natural" by Ses Flow — when chillhop becomes the perfect summer soundtrack

How a Chilean producer created one of the warmest tracks in the chillhop genre.

Finding truly sunny and warm vibes in chillhop isn’t easy. Sure, there are plenty of tracks out there, but few manage to capture that real summer feeling. Today, I was lucky enough to stumble upon "Natural" by Chilean artist Ses Flow — and it feels like he knows exactly how to blend sunshine with chillhop.

Deep bass, saxophone, and tropical vibes

The first thing that hits you is the beautiful guitar chords with filtered frequencies, which by the 10-second mark shift into their full, bright sound. A deep yet soft bass supports the harmony perfectly, while the beat delivers a steady and engaging rhythm.

Just when you think the track has reached the peak of its warmth, a saxophone appears at the 37-second mark, adding new colors to the mix. Soft ambient pads in the background create a sense of space and bring a relaxing touch to the track. It would have been interesting to hear the sax and guitar together after the first minute, but the artist chose to keep them in separate layers — soon we return to the familiar guitar melody, now enriched with cosmic transitions and effects.

Chillhop with a hint of tropical house

I’ve always enjoyed tracks that skillfully blend multiple genres. What’s great is that "Natural" stays true to chillhop’s essence — the rhythm and percussion are pure chillhop. Yet at the same time, it carries a tropical house flavor thanks to its light melodies and deep bass. Personally, I rarely come across such a combination, and I think it’s a refreshing take that could shake things up in the tropical house scene, which has become a bit monotonous lately.

I definitely recommend adding "Natural" to your playlist — this track will bring a touch of sunshine to your day, wherever you are. Ses Flow from Curacaví (Chile) has created something special here.
