Sometimes I feel like Tim Paters (aka Stræpa) has found a way to squeeze a few extra hours into a day. Just a week ago we were discussing his previous single, and today he’s back with “Quiet Conversation.” You’d expect a drop in quality with such a high output, but Tim is that rare case where the standard doesn’t just stay high. It evolves with every breath he takes into the mouthpiece.
Sound Architecture
This track is a true showcase for his “golden” instrument. The saxophone in Tim’s hands, leads that very intimate dialogue you never want to interrupt. Tim skillfully manipulates the sax, creating a pulsing, almost rhythmic effect. It feels as if the instrument has its own heartbeat. And when the reverb kicks in, the melody seems to dissolve into the air, leaving behind a sweet aftertaste.
The sax isn’t alone here though. Its warm, velvety timbre is perfectly balanced by light electric piano keys. They add a refreshing coolness to the track, like a sip of ice water during a heated conversation. All of this is anchored by a solid beat and a deep bass line. As a proponent of jazztronica, Tim has a keen sense for the intersection of live and digital sounds.
Why Listen?
“Quiet Conversation” is music about being in a state of flow. You can feel the artist’s passion in every note and every minor rustle. Tim Paters shares his inner energy, crafting rhythms that grow warmer with every release. This is a track for those who value sincerity and “live” breathing in electronic music. There is no pretense here, just pure devotion to the craft that instantly rubs off on the listener. It’s the perfect two minutes to stop and simply hear what those golden valves are whispering.
P.S. If you missed Tim’s previous release, be sure to check out our review of the atmospheric track “After Dark.”
