I rarely review tropical tracks or chill house. Usually, these directions pass me by, but today a piece of work arrived in my inbox that I simply couldn’t ignore. I’m talking about “In The Breeze“, a track released back in 2024 that only reached me now. It was created by TriniPrince, an independent producer based in New York with Trinidadian roots who also works as a photographer. I felt this track fits perfectly into our blog’s philosophy.
Sound Architecture
“In The Breeze” sounds like a light, sunny composition, the kind of chill house often mixed with lounge moods. The melody is the backbone here. Although the drum rhythm references the dance floor, the airy melody and vocals make the track feel much quieter and more grounded.
Thanks to a successful blend of genres, the melodic part is “inhaled” like real sea air. Chillwave-inspired synths join forces with tropical house piano. Together, they produce a warm yet melancholic sound. This feeling is very close to the state of finishing a successful day as it winds down. And when you hear the guitar, these emotions start to multiply exponentially.
When the vocals arrive, the track also introduces the sounds of old, dusty snares. This muffled distortion provides a natural “here and now” feeling. This dusty sound is like a nod to the famous works of Washed Out. To me, their philosophies definitely intersect somewhere here.
Why Listen?
TriniPrince did a great job mixing genres to convey an atmosphere of warmth, sadness, and nostalgia all at once. By creating “In The Breeze,” he subtly maintains a sense of the moment and speaks to the listener in the language of stoic philosophy. I don’t think this track is suited for loud dance floors. It feels like something intimate, something you aren’t ready to share with just anyone. This track should be listened to during the warmest moments of your life. Yes, those happen rarely, but that’s why the track will feel closer and closer every time.
